NO MORE RENT ROBES
The Scottish Preacher and Archbishop of Glasgow, Robert Leighton, once remarked that “Adversity is the diamond dust with which heaven polishes its jewels.” Four men in the Bible faced great adversity and all responded by “renting his robe.” Pastor Wade speaks today on “what it means to rent a robe” from Exodus 28:32.
PEOPLE OF PROMISE
For those who follow Christ, God has made certain and exact promises. He promised that no temptation will overtake us. He promised that we will overcome the enemy. Every day we pass by signs that tell us where to go, what to do, and when to do it. To me, the most frustrating sign is the DETOUR. You know where you need to turn, but the road is closed and you’re forced to take an alternate route. Often, you find yourself on a road that is unfamiliar.

When I was small and unwilling to share, my father would say to me, “There was a man they said was mad. The more he gave away, the more he had.” I’m still challenged and tempted to doubt the truth of it. Now officially in a recession, our minds are on Wall Street. Whether we have money in stocks or not, there is concern. Some have invested in an Individual Retirement Account. Rather than an IRA, consider an IEA. Namely, an Individual Eternal Account. It’s a kind of spiritual investing; having a portfolio that is eternal; becoming the kind of individual who is as mad as the gentlemen in the story above.
